Uterus is an inverted pear shaped hollow muscular organ located in the pelvis. It has three layers namely endometrial layers, middle muscular layer and outer thicker layer. Approx 20% of women at the age of 30 have got fibroids in their uterus. However, most females remain unaware of their presence as they rarely show signs or symptoms. There are certain cases where the human body shrinks uterine fibroids naturally after menopause and they start growing unnaturally and interfere with the normal functioning of other organs. Ayurvedic view about Uterine fibroid

Ayurveda views uterine fibroid as a kapha dominant disorder and calls it Grandhi or Arbudha.  The ancient texts describe this condition as an overgrowth in the mamsadhathu or muscles of the uterus. Vata and pitta also plays intermediate roles in the disease and due to this reason, the patient may be considered as pre-cancerous. So the treatment must be sufficiently sustained to balance the Tridoshas and to eradicate the slow moving kapha over time

Panchakarma or Ayurvedic cleansing is primary to any ayurvedic procedures. This procedure detoxifies the body and prepares the body to absorb the medicines. It corrects hormonal imbalances and body pathology thereby restoring body functions and aids in fertility and pregnancy. Virechana and vasthi (including utharavasthi) among Panchakarma therapy reduce the pathology and consequently increases fertility rate. Vamana has positive effects on people suffering with hypothyroidism, digestion and overweight.
