Known among her clients as Dr Rafeena, she is one the most qualified and experienced Ayurvedic practitioner in Australia. Ayurveda Dr Rafeena is a graduate on Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) from Government Ayurveda College, Kannur; Kerala, India. BAMS is a doctoral degree on Ayurveda, a six years course admission and duration of which is similar to MBBS in India. Dr Rafeena has also completed Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga from Annamalai University, Chidambaram (India) which is a sacred land of traditional yoga and Certificate in Gynaecology and Obstetrics from Ideal Society in Medical Research, Mumbai, India. Dr Rafeena is registered with Travancore-Cochin Medical council. Dr Rafeena is a professional member of Australasian Association of Ayurveda and Ayurvedic Medical Association of India.
Dr Rafeena hails from Kerala, the south west state of India known as “God’s own country’. Kerala is considered as the world capital of genuine Ayurveda. Kerala is rich in herbs, spices and lots of medicinal plants and literally never lost the growth of Ayurveda. Kerala Ayurvedic practitioners developed the world famous relaxing-rejuvenating treatment Shirodhara. As grown around the rich traditions of Ayurveda, Dr Rafeena, was passionate about Ayurveda from childhood and chose Ayurveda as her career.
Dr Rafeena has completed her Bachelor’s degree in Ayurveda in 2006 and practicing Ayurveda since then. Before moving to Sydney, Dr Rafeena has worked in different highly reputed Ayurvedic institutions in Kerala, India including state Ayurvedic health care centres/hospitals (In India, Ayurveda is also a main stream health care system, with state owned primary health care centres in almost every council and hospitals of different levels of care) the selection process of which includes competitive examinations and interviews. She has also worked in other reputed institutions like Government Ayurveda College, Kannur –where she studied Bachelors in Ayurvedic Medicine- and Greens Ayurveda, Azhiyur. Dr Rafeena is practicing from Sydney since 2013 from different Ayurvedic/ Naturopathy Clinics.
Dr Rafeena has received many awards and recognitions. She was awarded for her project on ‘Yoga for the prevention of lifestyle disease among senior citizens’ by Ayurvedic Medical Association of India (AMAI) for the service to the society and by Kerala Government Ayurveda Graduate Medical Officers’ Federation (KGAGMOF) for the best project in the year 2011-2012in Kannur District.
Dr Rafeena believes that the holistic care of Ayurveda is becoming more and more important in this contemporary world where stress is one of the prime reason for any health issues. Dr Rafeena integrates Ayurvedic lifestyle, Ayurvedic herbs, Ayurvedic diet, yoga, meditation, Ayurvedic therapeutic massage treatments and Ayurvedic detox known as Panchakarma in her practice.
