Renal disease and Ayurveda

Chronic kidney disease has become a growing health issue responsible for premature mortality. One in three Australians have the increased risk of developing chronic kidney disease says the statistics.

What is it?

Chronic kidney disease is a decline of function of kidney over a period of time and this condition results in accumulation of waste products, water and salt in the body. The loss of kidney function happens slowly – it takes months / years to occur. It is so slow that the symptoms are not obvious till the function becomes less than one-tenth of the normal.

What are the symptoms?

  • Body swelling
  • Itching
  • Nausea – vomiting
  • Shortness of breath
  • Anaemia
  • Vomiting
  • Frequent cramping in the muscles

Ayurvedic approach :

According to Ayurveda, Renal failure is a condition of Mutra Vaha Srotas -the body channel that is related to the functioning of urinary system. Vitiated vata and raised kapha that blocks the urinary channel is the cause for kidney related diseases. Srotas are different channel systems of the body with different sizes connecting organs of the body.  As Ayurveda states, the pathological variant of srota dysfunction and disturbances of dosha is the sole reason for the disorders in urinary system.

The functions of Mutra Vaha Srotas are

  • – regulating water in the body
  • – creating urine
  • – balancing pH
  • – metabolism of vitamin D

Treatment Methods :

Dialysis artificially cleanses the wastes and removes the fluid from the blood which is not a permanent solution to the disorder. Ayurveda has miraculous herbs that have the capacity to manage the disability of the kidney and help it function properly. The treatment plan includes –

  • Stopping the further progression of disease.
  • Finding the root cause of the disease
  • Diet recommendations according to the intensity of the disease.
  • Lifestyle changes
  • Restoring the kidney damage with some rejuvenation of kidney cells.

Ayurveda suggests that control of natural urges can lead to many serious damages in the body. Kidneys problems are also related with aggravation of emotions like fear and anxiety.

Ayurvedic treatment helps to rejuvenate the kidney cells and helps it by supplementing it with natural herbs instead of loading with more chemical agents. Ayurclinic has customized approach that helps your body to manage its disorder.
